Replacing Missing Teeth

This is the most important part of this guide: the replacement of missing teeth. You do not have to take any action but it is preferable that you do so to avoid many of the problems mentioned in the problems of missing teeth section.

Replacing these teeth means that you will be able to eat normally, prevent bone loss and maintain the functionality of your mouth. Plus it will reduce the risk of an ageing, saggy cheeked appearance and the subsequent loss of confidence.

These are all good reasons to restore your teeth.

There are three options to choose from which are:

  • Dental bridge
  • Dental implants
  • Dentures

These are discussed in further detail within this section of the guide.

Which treatment option?

There are pros and cons of all of these and it is a matter of personal choice as to which one you choose. Your dentist will be able to advise you about the most suitable replacement for you.

This decision will be based upon the number of missing teeth you have, the condition of your remaining teeth and whether there is any loss of bone density in your jaw (and how much).

Whichever option you choose every effort will be made to ensure that these replacement teeth closely match the colour of your natural teeth.
